  • A par-cooked dhal curry. Locally grown lentils, onions and. garlic, ginger, curry leaves, rampe, and traditional spices, slowly cooked in pure coconut oil. 100% made in New Zealand. Every ingredient named. Nothing added. Nothing hidden.

  • Skip the mess, keep the magic. Add water, coconut cream and heat. Give it 15 minutes on medium heat. Salt and lemon to finish. Done.

  • Rich, creamy dhal layered with tropical aromatics. It is fragrant and vibrant, then deepens. Slow heat, toasted spice, coconut smoothing the edges. Fragrant, deep, gently spiced. Distinctly Sri Lankan.

  • Our dhal gets its warmth from coriander, mustard seeds, and both fresh and dried chilies. It’s not a sharp, overpowering heat. More a gentle, rounded warmth that slowly builds.

We make two versions. Hot is the traditional Sri Lankan style. Medium is gentler and can be softened further by adding extra coconut cream.

  • We use our mum’s traditional recipe. Whole ingredients, traditional wisdom, and slow-built flavor.

We cook everything in pure coconut oil with no additives, preservatives, colors, or flavorings. They’re also gluten free and 100% plant based.

The part we didn’t expect.

Aiyō started with our mum's dhal recipe made for exploring Aotearoa's wilderness, because we couldn't imagine the outdoors without a proper curry. Real ingredients. Nothing added.

Then something unexpected happened. People like our own parents found us. Living independently, still deeply passionate about cooking and great food, but not always with the energy for everything it takes. They weren't looking for a shortcut. They were looking for a way to keep cooking. Without the fuss.

Perhaps it was always going to lead here. Our mum spent 25 years as a nurse in age care. Most days she'd bring her patients curry and rice. Because she believed that for some people, a proper home-cooked meal has a restorative power greater than any medicine.

It came full circle in the most beautiful way.

Making curry effortless for the people who love it most. We didn't plan it this way but it has become the most meaningful part of what we do.
